Open Access Policy

Histosophia is a peer-reviewed academic journal committed to the free and unrestricted dissemination of scholarly knowledge. The journal has operated under an open access model since June 2025. All content published in the journal is made available online with immediate, permanent, and free open access, without any technical, legal, or financial barriers.

1. Definition of Open Access

Open Access refers to the practice of providing unrestricted online access to scholarly research outputs, allowing users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, and use the full texts of articles without charge.

By adopting an open access publishing model, Histosophia aims to enhance the visibility, accessibility, and impact of scientific research, while supporting global knowledge exchange among researchers, students, and the wider public.

2. Licensing and Copyright

As of June 2025, all articles published in Histosophia are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).

Under this license:

  • Articles may be shared, reproduced, distributed, and adapted for non-commercial purposes.

  • Proper attribution to the original author(s) and source is required.

  • Any commercial use of the content requires separate permission from the copyright holder.

Authors retain the copyright of their work and grant Histosophia the right of first publication.

3. Reader and User Rights

All articles published in Histosophia are freely accessible in full text via the journal’s official website. Readers are permitted to read, download, copy, share, and use the content for non-commercial purposes in accordance with the terms of the CC BY-NC 4.0 license.

4. Article Processing Charges

Histosophia does not charge any fees at any stage of the publication process.

  • No submission fees are required.

  • No article processing charges (APCs) are applied.

  • The peer-review and editorial processes are conducted entirely free of charge.

This policy reflects the journal’s commitment to equitable and inclusive scholarly publishing.

5. Third-Party Material

Authors are solely responsible for obtaining permission to use any third-party copyrighted material (including figures, tables, images, or textual excerpts) included in their manuscripts. Any legal, financial, or ethical liabilities arising from the unauthorized use of such materials rest entirely with the author(s).

6. Archiving and Long-Term Access

Histosophia implements digital archiving practices to ensure the long-term preservation and permanent accessibility of all published content. These measures safeguard the scholarly record and guarantee continued access for future research and reference.

Authors’ Self-Archiving Rights

Histosophia permits authors, subject to the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), to deposit and share different versions of their articles on personal websites, institutional repositories, and other open-access platforms. Within this framework:

  • The preprint version (prior to peer review) may be shared freely.

  • The postprint version (peer-reviewed and accepted manuscript) may be deposited in open-access repositories prior to publication.

  • The published final version may be shared after publication in Histosophia, provided that the permanent link (DOI) supplied by the journal is clearly indicated.

This policy is adopted to support the wide dissemination of scholarly research and to promote openness and accessibility in academic communication.

7. Compliance with International Open Access Principles

Histosophia adheres to the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) and supports the free circulation of scientific knowledge worldwide. In line with these principles, the journal promotes transparency, sustainability, and openness in academic publishing.

Through its open access policy, Histosophia seeks to accelerate the dissemination of research, foster academic collaboration, and contribute meaningfully to global scientific progress.
